Cultures of Violence

When being treated disrespectfully by each and every institution, when your being is part of a systematized discrimination where you know that just because of who you are ( sex, cultural background or class) you will de denied privilegies but more than that not even receive treatment that is anywhere near what humans and I mean any human deserve, always being considered a second-class citizen and completely ignored in countries that declare themselves democratic, it is hard not to question what is really a democracy?

” Democracy, or democratic government, is “a system of government in which all the people of a state or polity … are involved in making decisions about its affairs, typically by voting to elect representatives to a parliament or similar assembly”, as defined by theOxford English Dictionary.[1] Democracy is further defined as (a:) “government by the people; especially : rule of the majority (b:) “a government in which the supreme power is vested in the people and exercised by them directly or indirectly through a system of representation usually involving periodically held free elections.”

Moreover if we have to pay for justice and more for “better” justice, people in poverty will subsequently never get justice.

Also we have the fact that authorities ( governmental and even religious) have some sort of “immunity” and are rarely convicted for their crimes which shows that it will be a rather normal reaction for humans to feel a certain mistrust towards the authoritarian systems. Authorities are exactly that, an authority that have the right to excercise power over you with the purpose to maintain the social rules (which should be decided upon through democratic votes) that is norm for that society but with a lot of historical proof of that this same power position has also many times been abused , which is a lot more like despotism.

” Despotism is a form of government in which a single entity rules with absolute power. That entity may be an individual, as in an autocracy, or it may be a group,Colloquially, despot applies pejoratively to those who abuse their power and authority to oppress their populace, subjects or subordinates. More specifically, the term often applies to a head of state or government. In this sense, it is similar to the pejorative connotations that are associated with the terms tyrant and Dictator

In western civilization people are predominantly white, and women are just starting to get a foot in the door in power positions , latinamerica is like thousands of years behind in that sense like in most of the world.

Western civilization is quite well known for its violent conquests, their constant ” need” to expand territorially, its interest in having “power” and goods of value..

We cannot expect humanity to be more full of heart that they are capable of considering their culture and education depending on the focus being ego- or heart based, where everyone is included.

If youth, women, certain people or cultures are excluded from society and refused total integration,  they will create their very own sub-cultures and possibly be an opposing or competing force.

Until the parents will not teach their children violence, superiority, domination, discrimination or greed, which means to disconnect with the negative parts of ancient traditions, we may not see big changes in the world. We can try and inform through education and some people may not repeat what their parents do and” get it” on their own but I do not believe that to be the mayority due to the fact that to do that you have to be very strong psychologically and people who are likely to make ” mistakes” are unstable. The center point in old style traditions of parenting ( and even in relationships with women, warfare and religion) is to control the children as much as possible which can only work if you in some way break them down and make them feel inferior to you and people that are insecure will never follow their heart, they will do what they are told.
